Ramie
is a bast fiber. Another name of Ramie is China Grass. Now a days Ramie
produced mainly in South America, Korea,
Japan,
China, Philippines and Indonesia. In work element Ramie
plants are hardly and grow well. The height of Ramie is 4-6 ft. Generally this
fiber is lustrous and white. Ramie is strong fiber like as flax. Ramie’s
elastic property is low and also durable. Ramie absorbs water very rapidly.
This fiber is stiff and coarser also. Ramie is mainly used for canvas and
packing materials, upholstery, furnishing fabrics, fishing nets and sewing
threads etc.
