Needle Size

The numerical expression of fineness of needle is called needle size. There are two systems of needle size expression as follows:

1. Metric system.
2. Singer system.

Metric system: This is most usable system all over the world and easiest way to express the needle size. In this system needle size is expressed interms of blade dia (mm) by using following formula.

Needle size, Nm = blade dia in mm*100

Let blade dia is 0.8mm, then needle size,

                        Nm= 0.8*100

                               = 80Nm.

Singer system: Incase of singer system needle size is expressed through a number as like, 5,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17.
