Traveller is the tiniest parts
made of metal or plastic through which yarn passes on its way form balloon
controlling ring to the yarn package surface in ring spinning machine.
It is mounted on ring and is
dragged round by the yarn. During its rotational movement on ring, it imparts
twist on yarn.
Function of a traveller:
- Twisting on the drafted strand of fibers.
- Winding of the yarn on the bobbin.
- Maintain winding tension of yarn by the frictional resistance between ring and traveller.
Types of traveller:
- According to shape traveller is three types. These are
- C-type.
- Elliptical traveller.
- N-types.
- According to the cross-section of wire traveller is also three types. These are:
- Round traveller.
- Flat traveller.
- Semi-circular traveller.
Parts of a traveller:
- Height of a bow.
- Yarn package.
- Toe gap.
- Wire section.
- Ring contact area.
- Inner width.
